Raymond P. Scheindlin, one of the foremost translators of medieval Hebrew poetry, has recently published a volume of verse translations of poems by Solomon Ibn Gabirol (c. 1021–1058), under the title 'Vulture in a Cage'.
The volume will be presented and discussed at a reading group this Friday morning, with special reference to his 'great nature poem', ani haish.
Some knowledge of Hebrew is an advantage.
